Design and Construction
What is the difference between an Omega WallbedTM and a Murphy Bed?
A Murphy bed consists of a metal framework that is secured to the floor and folds up into a cabinet or closet. Omega WallbedsTM consist of a well crafted wooden bed box that hold the mattress and foundation utilizing a high end spring loaded mechanism that is mounted to the cabinetry or sides of the wallbed system. The wallbed unit is securely attached to studs in the wall thereby causing no damage to the hardwood or cement floor of the home.

Bedding
How comfortable is the wallbed?
Our standard mattress is a mid-firm quality mattress suitable for everyday use. Since our mattresses provide superior comfort over a fold-out bed, your guests may choose to extend their stay with you.
[Top]
Does Omega WallbedsTM use standard sized mattresses and box springs
The mattresses in all Omega Wallbeds are locally made standard sized mattresses. Instead of a box spring, we use a smaller foundation that provides support for the mattress and distributes the weight over the bedface.

Can I use my own mattress?
While we offer comfortable bedding with all our wallbeds, you are not obligated to purchase our mattresses. Since our wallbeds are built to standard size bedding, we can utilize an existing mattress or you may purchase one separately.

If I buy my own mattress, are there any restrictions?
Our wallbeds are built assuming an 9 ½ ” mattress and a 4” foundation with an overall height of 13 ½”. If your mattress exceeds 9 ½”, (i.e. pillow-tops), we can adjust the depth of the wallbed unit to accommodate the increased height. The mattress height can be verified at the time we measure the room.
